Color Wheel Project

This was our first art project, and mainly focused around the concept of color and mixing color. Using the three Primary Colors, we mixed them to create a total of 12 colors. We also learned about tints and shades, the former being any color added to white and the latter being any color added to black. So basically, pink is a tint of red. We were assigned to pick a theme that represents us and use all 36 colors (12 base colors, 12 tints, and 12 shades).

In my project, I chose the theme of aviation and decided to draw an airplane. About 7 drafts later, I had the sketch of an airplane in my sketchbook that I wanted to use. My painting uses the warm colors in the sun to represent heat, and the cool colors in the clouds to represent coldness. The airplane is mainly composed of tints and shades. Drawing the plane was probably one of the hardest parts for me. All in all, I feel that Meghan's help and motivation to make my plane look better throughout the drafts came in handy as I was ready to settle for less than I was capable of doing.
