This American High School Life
In the This American High School Life project, we made multimedia based on an interesting story that came out of our internship experience. Since my internship is at SDSU, I did my video on how I was getting the college experience.
Process:
These videos were inspired by the HBO series This American Life. Our humanities teacher had us approach this project in any medium we wanted to, as long as we talked about an interesting story at our internship.I decided to choose to do a video on how my internship is on a college campus and I get college experience as well as work training. After I chose my topic, I went with Lauren Bielma to film a lot. We got over an hour of footage for a two and a half minute video. We filmed all around SDSU because at that time I didn't know what I'd be including during my video. When we returned to school after the two week immersion, I imported my raw video and edited it in the lab.

In this project, I learned a lot of life skills, such as time managment and meeting deadlines. One of the most valuable lessons that I took out, however, is the value of a second. Since we were limited to exactly 2 minutes and 30 seconds, I had to make sure that I could fit all the content I wanted to in the timeslot I have. I also had to work around the roadbumps that I had when working on the project. For example, I had an audio problem in the intro that I was freaking out about. I had to accept the fact that there was nothing I could do to fix it. If I were to redo this project over again, I would have had the intro just a voiceover with a camera rolling around my internship site.
